Mindanao Indigenous Peoples, Bangsa Moro to hold kinship pact in Bukidnon
Indigenous Peoples and Bangsamoro of Mindanao will reaffirm their kinship in ceremonies to be held in Talaandig Ancestral Territory, Sungko, Lantapan, Malaybalay, Bukidnon on March 7 & 8, 2012.
Organized by the Mindanao Peoples Caucus (MPC) and Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS), the ceremony aims to further galvanize and strengthen support of the IPs and Moros of Mindanao for the ongoing peace talked between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The affirmation of kinship would come as GPH and MILF put finishing touches to conditions for the resumption peace talks seeking to find lasting peace in Mindanao.
Peace pact holders, ritual and traditional leaders from of the Bangsamoro and Indigenous Peoples of Mindanao, peace panels of the government and the MILF, the International Monitoring Team (IMT), members of the International Contact Group (ICG), diplomatic community, UN agencies, key government officials, political leaders and civil society, will join the ceremony.
Mindanao culture and tradition was expected to zest up the event during one of the highlights, Celebration of Kinship, with songs, music and dances.
Other highlights, according to MPC media liason officer Jun Aparece, are the:
-Presentation of Testimonies on Kinship by the peace pact holders of the Islamized and non-Islamized people of Mindanao.
Execution of the Ritual Ceremony Reaffirming the Kinship of the early Inhabitants of Mindanao.
Exchanges of “Sug-ut” (tokens of kinship) among the Indigenous Peoples and Bangsamoro representatives
-Signing of the Agreement on the General Principles of Kinship
Unveiling of Kinship Marker
Messages from the Support Groups
“The ritual aims to awaken the kinship relations among the early inhabitants in Mindanao that resulted to the execution of Traditional Peace Pacts, namely but not limited to the Tampuda hu Balagen, Diyandi, Pakang, and Sapa. These Peace Pacts are relevant to the on-going negotiation between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), “ said Aparece.
