President Rodrigo Duterte has created a new party called Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), as a political party separate from Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
Duterte run under the banner of the PDP-Laban in the 2016 presidential election that he won by a landslide victory.
The PFP, composed of supporters of Duterte, presents itself as the alternative Party with the main advocacy of Federalism
PFP has a pending application for accreditation with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), according to its president JV Hinlo, a director at the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). Hinlo was a key figure in the Visayas campaign of Duterte.
