TRILLANES TO RESIGN IF DIGONG BEATS HIM IN IQ TEST
By ROGER M. BALANZA
Senator Antonio Trillanes has dared President Rodrigo Duterte to take with him an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) test, as the President said the opposition lawmaker has a “low IQ.”
At the Libingan ng mga Bayani for the commemoration of National Heroes Day on Monday, August 27, Duterte told reporters that he is surprised why Trillanes graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), “given his character, his mouth and his low IQ.”
Reacting, Trillanes said he is confident he would beat the President in the IQ test that he is putting his position as Senator on the line.
On Twitter, Trillanes wrote: “Kahit plus 10 pa siya, (Kapag) mas mataas score niya sa ‘kin, magre-resign ako sa pagka-Senador.” (Even if we add 10 to his score, if his scores are higher than mine, I will step down as Senator).
The Senator said, Duterte is “dumb” because he has not found a solution to the country’s problems.
“Siya nga itong wala nang maisip na solusyon sa mga problema ng bayan kasi aminado siyang mahina ang kokote niya.”(He’s the one who could not come up with solutions to the country’s problems because he is admittedly a dumb person.)
Duterte on Monday, lashed at Trillanes for the criticism over his appointment of Teresita De Castro as Chief Justice.
Trillanes’ close ally, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, had said that De Castro’s appointment could be a reward from the President for her role in the ouster of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
De Castro, one of the toughest critics of Sereno, voted to remove her through a quo warranto petition that invalidated the Chief Justice’s appointment.
Trillanes and Alejano also doubted the reason for Duterte’s September 2 to 5 official visit to Israel.
The opposition lawmakers claimed that Duterte would be going to Israel for medical check-up and not for diplomacy.
Coming to the defense of Duterte, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go suggested that Alejano and Trillanes should go with the President in the trip to Israel to have their heads checked by Israeli doctors.
They are welcome to join the trip to Israel. If the President is really going to have a medical checkup there, Alejano and Trillanes can also have their heads checked, Go said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that Duterte’s official trip is upon the invitation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The official visit will be the first by a Philippine President since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries 61 years ago in 1957, according to the DFA.
Trillanes and Alejano’s blast at Duterte’s health followed a claim last week by communist leader Jose Maria “Joma” Sison that Duterte was already comatose.
Go immediately shot down the allegation of the founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines who is in exile in The Netherlands, with a Facebook live feed showing a healthy Duterte having dinner with a female friend in Davao City.
Still on Twitter, Trillanes said Duterte should have himself treated in a hospital if he is ill.
If he is not ill, the President should continue working instead of relaxing in Davao, said Trillanes. Davao is the President’s home city.
“Ang daming problema ng bayan na ikaw rin naman ang gumawa, tapos patulog-tulog ka lang diyan sa Davao.” (The country has so many problems which are your own doing, yet you are just sleeping there in Davao.)
The Senator added: “Gumawa ka ng solusyon imbes na magpaawa.” (Find solutions instead of making yourself look pitiable).
Trillanes capped his Twitter post with this line: “Truly, you are the laziest, craziest, and the worst president this country ever had.”
“I have yet to hear those guys state something without malice. They always say the worst. People judge best when they condemn. And they have nothing to show …. except to blabber their mouth,” the President told reporters in an interview at the National Heroes Day event. (With ABS/CBN report)
