NOT RUNNING FOR SENATOR?
Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio is not running for Senator and will instead seek a second term in the 2019 midterm election.
Inday Sara will be running under the banner of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), a new regional political party the presidential daughter organized along with the governors of the Davao Region.
Inday Sara running for mayor tops the list of candidates of the HNP, according to Davaobreakingnews.
The news puts an end to widespread speculations that Inday Sara is taking a crack at a Senate seat in 2019.
Inday Sara has consistently landed in the winning circle of potential Senators in surveys of the Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia.
An almost complete lineup of the HNP for Davao City was revealed by sources who requested anonymity for lack of authority, according to the Davao City-based online news site.
Accordingly, candidates for the positions of vice mayor and 1st district congressman were meanwhile left open pending the decision of resigned vice mayor Paolo Duterte which posts to seek.
Vincent Garcia will run for the 2nd congressional post while comebacking congressman Isidro Ungab will have the 3rd district, the sources told Davaobreakingnews.
HNP has yet to release the list of its candidates in the Davao Region.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the date of the start of filing of Certificates of Candidacy (CoC) for the may 2019 elections on October 11.
