Davao del Norte officials promised huge campaign funds by First District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez when he was the Speaker of the House of Representatives, will be holding a bag of false hopes once they run in the 2019 election under the Alvarez Wing.
Alvarez has been reduced to a minority member of the House after he was replaced as Speaker by former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in a July 23 coup.
The once ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino/Lakas ng Bayan (PDP/Laban), of which Alvarez is secretary general, has also been reduced to a minority party in the House.
President Rodrigo Duterte, chairman of PDP/Laban, said earlier that PDP/Laban is cash-strapped and will not have campaign funds to give to members running in next year’s mid-term elections. He advised candidates to go back to their mother parties if they want campaign funds. PDP/Laban became a “super majority” in theHouse after various parties alligned with it after Duterte won the 2016 presidential race.
