DUTERTE UNFAZED BY COUP PLOTS

“Up to military, police if they want change”

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday appeared unfazed by the thought of being overthrown saying he was “tired” of being the country’s top official.

In a speech before new government appointees, Duterte said it was really up to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel if they wanted a change in the country’s leadership.

“Kung ituloy yang coup d’état ‘yan, e bahala kayo. Ako, gusto ko na mag-uwi (If you want to proceed with the coup d’état, it’s up to you. Me, I just want to go home),” Duterte said.

Duterte has repeatedly mentioned in his speeches that he regretted his decision to run for the highest position in the country since he could not get rid of corruption within government.

He has also asked his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to refrain from joining a presidential race. (PNA)
