The Davao City Tourism Master Plan has yet to be crafted after it was bid out in 2017, City Tourism Office head Generose Tecson said Wednesday.
During a media forum, Tecson said the city government is now on the lookout for urban planning experts to handle the PHP10-million master plan.
“We hope that Tieza will provide us with a tourism development planner with the right expertise,” she said.
She said a meeting with a consulting firm recently failed to produce any positive outcome as the firm’s proposals did not meet the city’s expectations.
Tecson said the bidding for the consultant to handle the preparation of the master plan was handled by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (Tieza).
She said Tieza and the City Tourism Office will meet on Friday to thresh out concerns in the preparation of the master plan.
Tecson said the tourism master plan is a roadmap to guide the city government and other stakeholders in the development of the local tourism sector.
The plan is an important component of promoting the city, she said, noting that Davao City already has international flights.
Further, she said that the plan incorporates measures that would benefit neighboring cities, provinces, and municipalities – by linking destinations through pre-imposed tour packages. (PNA)
