BATHING IN DAVAO CITY MAIN RIVER DANGEROUS TO HEALTH
The Davao City Health Office said Davao River has tested positive for the presence of the deadly polio virus.
Health officer Josephine Villafuerte said Dabawenyos should avoid swimming in the Davao River, and swimming pools, as the city health office intensified its campaign against the disease whose resurgence in the country has been confirmed by the Department of Health .
The presence of the polio virus in the Davao River was confirmed by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), which conducted sampling and testing on August 22, according to Villafuerte.
“I immediately called up a meeting with various stakeholders when we were informed about the confirmation. The meeting was aimed at tackling steps to prevent the spread of the virus in the city,” she said.
