ADB CHIEF VISITS ADB-FUNDED DAVAO PROJECTS

Davao, Caraga environment officials sacked

Environment Secretary Ramon Paje has relieved 31 DENR officials in Davao Region and Caraga following the confiscation of P16-million worth of “hot logs” at Manila North Harbor purportedly shipped from Davao. Paje said these officials have not done enough to implement the nationwide logging ban because his office still received reports of log confiscations in thousands of pieces. Indon consul upbeat on Mindanao-Indonesia trade

Indonesian Consul General Eko Hartono is looking forward to stronger trade tries between Mindanao particularly Davao City and Indonesia. The newly assigned Consul Hartono attended the recent launch in Davao City of the inaugural flight of the Mid-Sea Express Davao-Manado flight on March 18. Mid-Sea Express would fly the route every Sundays using a 19-seater Jet Stream aircraft. Considering that Davao City and Manado have been progressing, Hartono said there is need for both governments and private sectors to work together in sustaining the new flights. DTI-Davao cites gains in ’11

    The Department of Trade and Industry in Davao Region (DTI-11) has cited the economic gains achieved this year and will plan out for strategies to adopt in sustaining the milestones. The third quarter report of DTI-11 revealed that the bottom line results of its various initiatives have increased significantly. The value of exports generated through the Export Pathways Program (EPP) reached US$42.52 million, which is 132 percent of the agency’s annual target and 51 percent higher compared to the same period last year.
